PROJECT OKULUS
Light inscribes itself into the digital space.
When I began creating kaleidoscopic videos, I started noticing a certain phenomenon. In some sequences, whenever I paused the video, beings formed from light, lines, and reflections began to emerge.
I started to see them as my guides.
Whenever they appeared, I knew that the angle and distance of the mirrors were right.
Some of them were almost impossible to perceive while watching the video at normal speed. It was only during rendering, when I saw the moving image broken down into individual frames, that I suddenly realized something:
There is something hidden in the time between moving images, something we would not normally see.
There is another world within the moving image.
A world of images that sometimes exist for only a single moment.
THE EYE OF CONSCIOUSNESS
Gradually, I began to notice another phenomenon appearing again and again within mirrored absolute geometry.
The Eye.
An eye appearing in many different shapes and sizes. I began referring to it, provisionally, as the Eye of Consciousness.
It appeared so frequently that it led me to the idea of creating individual digital artworks from frozen moments of video. I began searching for the instant when an image was as sharp as possible, extracting it from the flow of the video and allowing it to exist on its own.
As an image that could be hung on a wall.
Or by preserving part of the movement as a short loop displayed in a digital frame.
Perhaps, one day, in a gallery.
STOPPING TIME
Video is like a stream.
An image within it exists for only a fraction of a moment. Some images and phenomena become visible only when we stop or slow down that stream.
By stopping time, movement becomes an image.
And an image can become an artifact.
This idea would later become important for what was to follow.
“ALEŠ, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO START MAKING NFTs?”
During a conversation with my friends Míra and Alenka Kaškovi, who organize the FENIX Festival, a question came up:
“Aleš, when are you going to start making NFTs?”
Wait.
What is an NFT?
But the question stayed with me.
Gradually, I became fascinated by the idea of giving the beings I had discovered in my videos another life.
They would no longer have to remain fleeting moments hidden within a moving image. They could become independent digital artifacts.
For several months, this idea kept growing in my mind.
Eventually, it developed into the project OKO and its first chapter:
NEON TIME
A MAP OF AN EMERGING WORLD
While creating the manifesto for the project, something happened that I had never really planned.
Almost unconsciously, I began creating names for individual NFTs, their stories, and a map of other subprojects.
As if one image had begun opening a door to another.
And then another thought occurred to me:
Why should a manifesto exist only as text?
After all, this entire world emerged from movement, light, geometry, and time.
Perhaps the manifesto could become a video as well.
And at that moment, another new and playful project began to take shape before my eyes.

Light is Written into Data…

Oculus Tempus Neonis: the first NFT collection where light, time, and virtual space converge.
The project stems from a long-term artistic exploration of the relationship between matter and immateriality, wherein light becomes a carrier of information and time itself serves as the primary creative medium.
The collection is built upon the concept of “RGB Layers of Time,” in which temporal sequences are broken down into chromatic layers and reassembled into new spatial structures. The artworks originate from freeze-frames extracted from video footage captured using a mirror. This process allows for the reflection of not only space but also time itself. The mirror transforms a linear sequence into a symmetrical temporal structure, creating images where the past and future seemingly converge in a single visual moment.
These works do not appear as photographs or digital illustrations, but rather as records of a process in which light, movement, and time generate their own autonomous geometry. Each piece captures a unique transition between physical reality and its virtual reflection, revealing patterns that are ordinarily hidden within the continuous flow of perception.
Oculus Tempus Neonis represents a first step toward utilizing blockchain technology as a platform for preserving and presenting a distinctive visual language. Launched on OpenSea, the collection initiates a series of experiments focused on the perception of time, the observation of reality in flux, and the creation of new forms of visual existence within the digital space. The Latin name Oculus Tempus Neonis can be interpreted as “Eye of Neon Time”—a vision of a world where light becomes memory and time reveals itself as a visible structure.
